You can get Jaspell fonts separately. This is necesssary for you to view documents correctly in some formats, such as ".htm" and ".docx".  You may wish to try the fonts out using Jaspell Jaldi, Windows Character Map or some other programme.

Download and save the fonts to a suitable folder—such as C:/Jaspell Fonts.  Or you may prefer to create a folder in “My Documents” titled “Fonts Downloaded” to hold these files together.

If you have old fonts of the same name, you can remove these before installing the new fonts. You may wish to keep a copy of the old fonts temporarily in "My Documents" in a folder titled "Fonts Old" before removing them. From the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts and select the old fonts to be copied.  Select Menu Edit / Copy.  Go to the "Fonts Old" folder, choose Menu Edit / Paste.  Keep the old fonts until you are happy that the new fonts have been installed and initialized and are behaving as you wish.

To remove the old fonts from the Windows system, on the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts and select the old fonts to be removed.  Choose Menu File / Delete and Click "OK".

Then install the new fonts. From the Windows Desktop screen go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts, File, Install New Fonts. Point to the folder where you saved these new font files—such as C:/Jaspell Fonts.  It may take a few moments while Windows analyses and lists the fonts in that folder.  Select the new fonts to be installed.  Either:

1.    Tick the option box "Copy fonts to Font folder".  Click "OK". Or

2.    Click on “Install”.

The new fonts need to be activated and initialized.   If your computer does not do this automatically, you may find that the first time you try to use them they don't appear correctly on the screen because Windows has replaced them with some other font.   To ensure that they get initialized before you run the Jaldi programme for the first time, we recommend that you:

1.    First reboot your computer, or

2.    Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Fonts. When this part of Windows opens, it may activate the new fonts and register them, even if this did not happen before, or

3.    Select the saved fonts and install them:

a.    Go to where you saved these new font files—such as C:/Jaspell Fonts

b.    Select the fonts needed.

c.     Click on “Install”.
